Obituary

Henry “Bo” Carter, Jr. (90) passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2026, in Blackville, South Carolina.

Born on September 30, 1935, in Bamberg County, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Henry and Daisy Carter, Sr.

On July 7, 1968, Henry married Carriella Brown. To this union, two sons were born: Anthony Carter and Curtis Carter.

“Bo Carter,” as he was affectionately known in the Blackville community, worked as a farmer for most of his life. He was also known as a small-engine repairman, and it was common to see him on his front porch working on lawnmowers and chainsaws for people in the community. He enjoyed listening to country music and watching westerns; however, his greatest passion was fishing. As the saying goes, “If you give a man a fish, you will feed him for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, you will feed him for a lifetime.” Bo" taught young men how to fish. He started with his sons, and that passion spread to cousins and nephews throughout the family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest Carter, Clary Carter, John Carter, and Herman Carter; his sister, Ella Carter-Bradley; his son, Curtis Carter; and his stepson, Stephen Brown.

"Bo" is survived by his wife, Carriella Brown-Carter, of the home; his son, Anthony (Kathy) Carter of Orangeburg, South Carolina; his stepdaughter, Lisa Brown-Watson of Mobile, Alabama;(7) Grand Children and (9) great-Grandchildren, his sister, Rebecca Carter-Lyon of Elizabethport, New Jersey.

Papa, grandpa, and Uncle "Bo", as he was known by the children of the family, will truly be missed but his memories will live on for a lifetime within them.
